The Wayman Center provides intensive, individualized, one-to-one Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services to children with special needs, especially children who are suspected of or have been identified as having an Autism Spectrum Disorder, such as Autism, PDD, NOS and Asperger Syndrome/Disorder. Services are delivered for the purpose of reducing problem behaviors and increasing skills in areas of deficit, especially language and communication.
Services at WLC are fee-based, by the hour, so that we are better able to provide a highly individualized program for each child, therefore enabling us to meet individual needs that often vary greatly from child to child. Services are provided from 9:00am to 12:30pm and 2:00pm to 5:30pm, Monday through Friday. WLC is closed on Saturday and Sunday, and is also closed from 12:30pm to 2:00pm daily so that staff may take lunch and planning time.
Schedules at WLC vary from child to child, but each child enrolled at The Wayman Center must attend a minimum of 6 hours per week, divided across at least 3 sessions per week. Most children enrolled at The Wayman Center attend between 6 and 15 hours per week.
There is no minimum age or maximum age for children who may attend WLC and admission is decided on a case by case basis, according to whether or not we can meet the child's individual needs.
Speech therapy is also provided at WLC, as a separate service, on Tuesdays and Thursdays by Lori Sekhon, CCC-SLP. Those desiring additional information regarding speech therapy at WLC may contact Lori directly.
