Workshops

The Wayman Center presents workshops for the purpose of providing training and education relevant to applied behavior analysis for individuals with autism spectrum disorders or other developmental disabilities. Some workshops are designed more for professionals, while others are designed more for parents.

The Wayman Center workshops are available to school districts and other agencies, to be presented at the location of their choice. Workshops may also be designed to meet specific needs for staff training and in-service. For more information or to schedule a workshop, contact Gail Wayman at gail@wlctx.com.

Developing IEP Goals and Objectives

Tuesday-Wednesday, November 16 – November 17, 2010

8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Space is limited to 24 Attendees

Developing IEP Goals and Objectives is a two-day training opportunity for professional educators (teachers, SLP’s, etc.) who work with children with autism spectrum disorders and/or other developmental disabilities.  This workshop will be a combination of lecture and hands-on activities, and each participant will be given a handout and CD.  The workshop will include the following topics:

The workshop will also include an activity that provides participants with an opportunity to develop and write IEP goals for a student based on criterion-referenced assessment (ABLLS-R/VB-MAPP). 

Workshop Location:  The Wayman Center, 4225 W. Parker Rd., Plano, Texas 75093.
The daily schedule is 8:30 to 4:30 with one and a half hours for lunch.  Lunch is on your own. Morning and afternoon refreshments will be provided. 

CEU’s: 12 hours for certified teachers approved by SBEC.  Participants must attend the entire workshop in order to receive credit for attendance.  Certificates of Completion will be given to all attendees who attend the entire workshop.

Presenters*:

Gail Wayman, M.Ed., BCBA, Certified Special Education Teacher and Board Certified Behavior Analyst, is the owner and Executive Director of The Wayman Center, an organization that provides behavioral intervention to children with autism and other developmental disabilities, while serving as a training ground for behavior analysts. She has been educating children with Autism Spectrum Disorders and other special needs for fifteen years.  In addition to working in public schools as a special education teacher, behavior specialist and in-home trainer, Ms. Wayman has been providing consultation and training to school districts, education service centers, individual families and non-profit organizations for over 6 years.

Callie Simms, M.A., BCBA, Board Certified Behavior Analyst, holds a Master’s

Degree in Behavior Analysis from Western Michigan University, and is currently the

Assistant Director at The Wayman Center. She provides consulting and training in public schools and home programs.  Callie has presented at both the Association for Behavior Analysis International Conference and the Texas State Autism Conference.

Effective Instruction for Children with Autism and Other Developmental Disabilities

Wednesday – Friday, December 8 – December 10, 2010

Effective Instruction for Children with Autism and Other Developmental Disabilities is a three-day training opportunity for professional/paraprofessional educators (teachers, assistants, SLP’s, etc.) who work with children with autism spectrum disorders and/or other developmental disabilities.  This workshop will be a combination of lecture, hands-on activities, and direct observation of therapy sessions.  This workshop is most likely to be beneficial to participants who have some background knowledge of basic behavioral principles (reinforcement, extinction, etc.) and the verbal operants (mands, tacts, intraverbals, etc.).  Each participant will be given a handout and CD. 

The workshop will include the following topics:
